Over 800 people attended the charity event which was held at King’s College, The British school of Panama on March 4th 2016. The money raised this year surpassed all previous records and all funds will be donated to charity. The school has three nominated charities this year: the orphanage “Divine Home”, the organisation “Ivana Escobar” and several educational programmes in Casco Viejo.
On the 4th of March King’s College Panama held its traditional school “Summer Fair”, a charity event which this year has managed to beat all previous years’ records by raising $10,000, and in fact doubling the amount raised from the school’s first Fair just two years ago. The fair was attended by over 800 people, who enjoyed several family activities such as karaoke, raffles, face painting, and bouncy castle among many others.
Most of the money was raised through the “Grand Raffle”, which this year included prizes such as a return ticket to London, donated by Lufthansa, two nights at the Westin Playa Bonita hotel, two nights at The Hard Rock Hotel and a mini iPad, among many others.
In addition to the raffle, the event also raised funds through stalls and the sale of products donated by local businesses, as well as a variety of culinary delights, in many cases prepared by the students of the school.
King’s College, The British School of Panama has been celebrating a “Summer Fair” for the last three years. Both teachers and students get involved in its organisation, as well as their families and several local and international companies. Everyone involved dedicates a great amount of time, effort and enthusiasm to help create a fun family event, the main purpose of which is to help those in need. “Our Summer Fair is an event that brings the whole community together, supporting families, staff, children, local businesses and Charities. It is a truly British event” says Vanessa Whay, Headteacher of King’s College Panama.
The money collected this year will be donated to the orphanage “Divine Home”, the organisation “Ivana Escobar” and several other educational programmes in the nearby area of Casco Viejo.
